Empower is our ministry to high schoolers and includes a number of programmes:
Empower Youth meets on Friday nights in the St Albans hall from 7pm to 10.30pm for games, activities, worship, teaching and to build community. On roughly two out of three Friday nights we spend time in our LIFE groups where young people discuss life and Scripture under the guidance of young adult leaders and adult mentors.
Each term includes at least two "Invite Nights" to which young people are encouraged to bring friends for a full on fun activitiy. Other "special nights" include meeting with other groups in the church. Occassional Saturday social events are also held each term.
GROW is a leadership development programme for school years 12 & 13 that both teaches young people about leadership and involves them in a leadership role. This may be serving on the youth group planning team, or helping with pr1me, STAKS or Elevate Youth. GROW leaders meet twice a term for teaching and encouragement.
pr1me is name of our Sunday morning programme for young people in school years 7-9. The programme is a mix of games and discussions with time spent in age/gender defined smaller groups. We follow a set curriculum for two weeks out of three, and on the third week we do something different/special.
Coach is not so much a programme as it is an initiative that sees adults meeting with a small group of young people and their friends and teaching a skill. We are establishing groups for those interested in construction as well as sewing and cooking.
