GAP Year Internships

WHAT IS A GAP YEAR INTERNSHIP?

A GAP Year Internship is a chance to take time out and assess your values and direction in life before continuing on into adulthood. Our internships allow young people to do just this—they are not a scheme to get you to work for the church for nothing. They are designed as a way to deepen your theology, challenge your thinking, develop your leadership and give you experience in service through a range of opportunities designed personally for you.

WHAT DOES IT INVOLVE?

Firstly, you’ll need to enrol in an approved Bible College programme—we can help you choose the college and programme best suited to you.

Secondly, we will work with you to find an area of service within youth ministry that best suits your particular gifts and goals. You may want to work with intermediates, teens or young adults. You may want a church based focus or prefer to serve in schools or the community.  Thirdly you’ll meet weekly with other interns for community time and input from people with experience in serving in ministry and mission—people who will challenge your thinking and answer your questions.

WHAT DOES IT COST?

There is no charge as such but you will need to cover your own Bible College fees and cost of living expenses. If you are moving to Palmerston North we can help you find accommodation.

HOW DO I FIND OUT MORE?

Our youth pastor Murray Brown has over 35 years experience in youth ministry and has lectured at Bible Colleges throughout NZ and beyond. He is responsible for guiding and mentoring you through the year. For more information and application forms contact him on 0278415321 or email murray@stalbans.org.nz
